An enclosure sunk in the ground, to contain utilities equipment, has side walls 2, 4, 5 and 6 made up of beams which are secured together on site. The beams are interlocked firstly by tongues and grooves, and secondly by means of half-housing joints at the corners of the enclosure. Adjustments in slope and height are made by employing tapering beams and beams of differing depth. A removable cover plate (not shown) is located in place on top of the enclosure. An enclosure thus made of interlocked pre-formed elements is very much quicker to construct than an enclosure of known type cast from wet concrete. |
