The invention relates to a universal slicer comprising a housing (5) and a bearing plate (1) which is arranged on the inner side of the housing (5) and carries a mechanism (3) which transfers the rotation of a drive motor (11) coupled to the mechanism (3) to a round blade (25) which is rotatably mounted in a first bearing (2). The aim of the invention is to produce a universal slicer comprising a drive unit which is simplified, especially in terms of its assembly. To this end, the inventive universal slicer is embodied in such a way that the bearing plate (1) comprises the frist bearing (2) of the round blade (25), and the housing (5) is provided with an opening (27) through which the first bearing (2) can be accessed from an outer side of the housing (5). One such universal slicer has the added advantage of being especially quiet.
