The device has electrical potential sources generating an electrical potential adapted to extract ions from electronic impact and metastable atom bombardment ionization chambers (30, 40) towards a mass analyzer. A connection is provided between the chamber (40) and a gas chromatograph (60) for analyzing and interfacing gaseous effluents provided from the chromatograph. An adapted line (61) receives the effluents of the chromatograph. An independent claim is also included for a method for analyzing a gaseous substance.
