PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device realizing speeding-up and power saving. SOLUTION: The fixing device has a belt supporting member constituted of a plurality of layers including a surface heating element, an endless heating belt stretched and laid at least on the belt supporting member and a supporting roller, an endless pressure belt supported by at least two pressure rollers and having a cross section which is thin and cylindrical in a state where external force is not exerted thereon, and a fixed member constituted of a plurality of layers including a surface heating element and coming into contact with the inside of the heating belt between the belt supporting member and the supporting roller. The two pressure rollers are pressed against the belt supporting member and the supporting roller through the heating belt and the pressure belt, and also the pressure belt is elastically deformed and brought into contact with the fixed member through the heating belt, whereby a nip part is formed between the heating belt and the pressure belt. Thus, recording paper to which toner is transferred is held and conveyed in the nip part, and processing to melt the toner on the recording paper is performed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
