PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-stage hot air rotary drier capable of drying a half-viscous material such as sake lees containing moisture to powder, by simultaneously performing conveyance and drying by hot air while cutting back the half-viscous material in drums for drying arranged horizontally in multi-stages. SOLUTION: The multi-stage hot air rotary type drier comprises the drums 1 for drying arranged horizontally in vertical multi-stages, a drum driving section 2 for applying circumferential rotation to each drum 1 for drying, a raw material supply conveyer 3 for supplying the half-viscous material to the drums 1 for drying, and a hopper-like raw material/exhaust gas separation part 4 for slipping and moving the half-viscous material such as sake lees to the next-level drum 1 for drying that is disposed at the end of each drum 1 for drying. The tip of each drum 1 for drying is connected to a feed pipe 6 for blowing off the hot air from a hot air generator 5 in the shaft core direction of the drums 1 for drying.
