PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device for gas burning appliances for detecting gas shut-off failure of a gas supplying device and informing a user of the failure to do appropriate measure such as turning the gas off at the gas main tap. SOLUTION: A thermocouple 7 is provided near a burner 2. When the time T passes through after burning operation of equipment stopped and a solenoid valve 6a and a proportional valve 6b are closed and the thermocouple outputs electromotive force exceeding Ve, gas shut-off failure is determined. A display unit 9b and a buzzer 9c alarm the occurrence of failure to make the failure of the equipment come to the surface, and calls user's attention to do appropriate measure.
