PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve riding comfortableness of a vehicle even in a shock absorber generating damping force by utilizing electromagnetic force of a motor. SOLUTION: In this shock absorber D provided with a movement conversion mechanism T for converting linear relative movement of a vehicle body B and an axle into rotary movement and the motor M to which rotary movement converted by the movement conversion mechanism T is transmitted, the motor M is fixed to a vehicle body B side, the movement conversion mechanism T is interposed between the vehicle body B and the axle, sprung side connection mass is reduced, and force for transmitting input of vibration from an axle side to the vehicle body B side is reduced to improve riding comfortableness in the vehicle.
