PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lifter capable of lifting a heavy load with a weight of several hundreds tons at a long stroke and safety liftable even if a horizontal force acts thereon while it is lifted and stopped. SOLUTION: This heavy load lifter vertically lifting the heavy load by a lifting means in a ground-contact state comprises a lifting part A1 brought into contact with the ground at its one end and vertically extended at the other end to lift the heavy load and a turnover prevention means A2 preventing the lifting part from turning over against the horizontal force acting on the lifting part when the lifting part A1 is lifted and stopped.
