MULTI-PLANAR THREE-DIMENSIONAL USER INTERFACE

A computer user interface for navigating through media content designed for primary use with a remote control device. The computer user interface contains two planes. A front plane (1001) connected to a first virtual hinge axis (1005) and a back plane (1003) connected to a second virtual hinge axis (1007). Both planes begin at a stating plane (901) whereupon a user selected menu item causes the planes to animate along their hinge so that the front plane is displayed more prominent to the user. The selected menu item is shown on the front plane while the remaining items are shown on the back plane.
