<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel addressing scheme for controlling an electronically addressable electrophoretic display. <P>SOLUTION: In the electrophoretic display, at least one capsule 20 contains suspension fluid 25, a first particle 52 and a second particle 54. In the capsule 20, the first particle 52 has a first optical characteristic and a first electrophoretic mobility.
