<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for adaptive preemphasis, and a transmitter and a transmitting and receiving apparatus for data communications. <P>SOLUTION: In a data communication system, a preemphasis circuit preemphasizes serial data streams based on preemphasis control values to transmit them to a receiver through a first transmission line. Based on the preemphasis control values, a preemphasis controller receives transmission error measurements for the preemphasized serial data streams from the receiver through a second transmission line. If the transmission errors are minimum or an eye size is maximum, the preemphasis controller sets the preemphasis control values to the best ones. Thereby, the best preemphasis values, which are the most suitable for transmission conditions, such as transmission line length and transmission speed, can be automatically set in the receiver side, so that interference between signals of the received data can be minimized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
