Disclosed is a method for refining a fluorine-containing polymer which enables to efficiently remove low molecular weight components from the fluorine-containing polymer. Also disclosed is a method for producing a fluorine-containing polymer including only a few impurities. Further disclosed is a fluorine-containing elastomer having excellent moldability and the like. Specifically disclosed is a method for refining a fluorine-containing polymer from a polymerization product of a fluorine-containing monomer through extraction. This method is characterized in that the fluorine-containing polymer contains at least one fluorine atom or perfluoroalkyl group which is directly bonded to a carbon atom constituting the main chain, and an extracting solvent is used at a temperature not less than the critical temperature thereof but less than 130°C and at a pressure of not less than the critical pressure thereof during the extraction.
