PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder capable of reducing a processing time period before recording relating to a recovery operation for an inkjet recording head and improving a total throughput relating to recording of an image, and a method of recovering the inkjet recording head. SOLUTION: One of the plurality of recovery operations having different filling amounts of ink is selected in order to recover the inkjet recording head based on a detected residual amount of the ink and a time period elapsed from the previous recording operation.
