PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame resisting treatment furnace for a carbon fiber precursor strand, effective for preventing the accumulation of foreign materials such as fluffs and powder and preventing the contamination of flame-resistant fiber, applying hot air of uniform temperature to the strand traveling in a heat-treatment chamber and stably producing the flame-resistant fiber. SOLUTION: The flame resisting treatment furnace 2 is composed of a heat-treatment chamber 4 to supply hot air perpendicular to a precursor fiber strand 6 horizontally traveling in the furnace to perform the flame resisting treatment of the strand 6, an upper flow channel 10 formed above the heat-treatment chamber 4, a lower flow channel 12 formed under the heat-treatment chamber 4, a hot air circulation channel 14 connecting the upper channel to the lower channel, a hot outer air introducing port 22 opened on the hot air flow channel extending from the lower flow channel through the hot air circulation channel to the upper flow channel, a hot air discharging port 24 opened on the hot-air flow channel and a hot outer air supplying means 28 to supply the hot outer air through the hot outer air introducing port 22 to the hot air flow channel.
