PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a copolymer transparent, excellent in flexibility and heat resistance and capable of containing no halogen viewed with suspicion from a viewpoint of environmental pollution. SOLUTION: The method for producing a copolymer obtained by copolymerization of ethylene and/or anα-olefin, a cyclic olefin and an alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon is provided, wherein the copolymerization composition of the cyclic olefin is 0.01-66 mol %, the copolymerization composition of the alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon is 3-99 mol %, and copolymerization composition of alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon is more than a half of the cyclic olefin copolymerization composition, and the ethylene and/orα-olefin, the cyclic olefin and the alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon are copolymerized in the presence of a catalyst comprising below-mentioned (A) and (B) and/or (C).
