PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new compound having a TGR5 receptor agonistic effect and useful as a medicine such as a preventing and treating agent of a morbidity or disease associated with the TGR5. SOLUTION: This fused ring compound is expressed by formula (1) [wherein, ring A is an aromatic heterocyclic ring which may be substituted; ring B is a nitrogen-containing 6- to 9-membered ring which may be substituted, X<SB>a</SB>is methylene which may be substituted (provided that C(=O) is excluded); X<SB>b</SB>is methylene which may be substituted: Y is a 1-3C alkylene, which may be substituted, CONH, SO<SB>2</SB>NH or SO<SB>2</SB>; R is an aromatic group which may be substituted; and ring D is an aromatic group which may be substituted or non-aromatic heterocyclic ring which may be substituted].
