<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device obtaining a stable, satisfactory image by a simple mechanism, in which a projection is additionally formed on a developing unit casing, without involving alteration of the shape of a conveyance screw, addition of members or the like, and degradation in the original ability of the developing device to convey developer, and to provide an image forming apparatus having the developing device. <P>SOLUTION: The developing device includes a developer carrier 3 holding a thin layer of two-component developer 2 consisting of toner 2a and carrier 2b; developer stir screws 5 and 5' rotatably supported and serving as a stirring means and conveying means for the two-component developer 2; and the developing unit casing 1 for holding the developer carrier 3 and developer stir screws 5 and 5'. The developing device has a clearance between the developer stir screws 5 and 5' and the developing unit casing 1. The developing casing 1 has a projecting part 6 in the clearance in order to efficiently electrify the toner 2a and carrier 2b by the stir and conveyance of the two-component developer 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
