PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an optical amplifier which is capable of stably amplifying a two-way optical signal using a single-core optical fiber.

SOLUTION: An amplifier according to the present invention comprises an anti-reflection means wherein optical isolators 16a and 16b are disposed in upward and downward directions, respectively between optical multiplexers/demultiplexers 15a and 15b. The anti-reflection means is configured to pass uplink and downlink signals but to block reflection lights thereof. Since reflection lights are reduced by this anti-reflection means, oscillation due to multiple amplifications caused by reflection lights of the amplifier is suppressed and two-way stable amplification is made possible.
