PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared image pickup device picking up a desired image with high precision by reducing switching noise at the time of scanning to precisely perform offset correction of an amplifier. SOLUTION: In an infrared image pickup device 101, reference elements having the same electric characteristics as detection elements disposed in individual pixels of an infrared imaging device 1 are disposed on the inside (a first reference element array 10) and the outside (a second reference element array 6) of the infrared imaging device 1, and a first scanning means for scanning the infrared imaging device 1 and a second scanning means for scanning the second reference element array 6 are synchronously operated. As a result, switching noises have the same waveform even if the noises are superposed on respective output signals, and a difference is detected by a differential amplifier 9 to cancel the noises. Consequently, a proper offset correction value is detected to properly cancel an offset, and an image pickup signal of high precision, having the properly canceled offset, is obtained.
