PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a printer which can prevent an unexpected action at an element. SOLUTION: A preventing circuit 85 is set which prevents a plurality of drive signals COM_A and COM_B from being simultaneously applied to the element (piezoelectric element 417). The preventing circuit 85 consists of a logic circuit and outputs switch operating signals (first switch operating signal SD_A and second switch operating signal SD_B) for operating switches (first switch 87A and second switch 87B) to a plurality of the switches set for each of the plurality of drive signals COM_A and COM_B, respectively, on the basis of an inputted switch control signal (selected data).
