<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device, and to provide a liquid crystal display device having it. <P>SOLUTION: This surface light source device includes a flat fluorescent lamp having an inside space divided into a plurality of discharge spaces for generating and emitting light, and a luminance reinforcing film attached to one surface of the flat fluorescent lamp for emitting light therefrom. The flat florescent lamp includes: a first flat substrate; a second substrate having the same shape as that of the first substrate and connected to the first substrate to form the inside space; a sealing member for connecting the first substrate to the second substrate; and barrier ribs arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate for dividing the inside space into the plurality of discharge spaces. In this case, the second substrate includes a light diffusing agent for diffusing the emitted light. Thereby, utilization efficiency of the light emitted from the surface light source device can be improved, and the whole thickness thereof and a production cost thereof can be reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
