PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noncontact power transmitter which seeks the convenience of a portable telephone or the like when it is mounted on a portable telephone or the like. SOLUTION: This transmitter comprises a coil 1 serving a double purpose of transmission and reception, transmission equipment 2, and reception equipment 3. The transmission equipment 2 and the reception equipment 3 selectively uses the coil 1 serving a double purpose of transmission and reception. The transmission equipment 2 is used to transmit power to outside, and it generates AC to be supplied to the coil 1 serving a double purpose of transmission and reception. The reception equipment 3 is used to receive power supplied from outside, and it is so arranged as to convert AC induced in the coil 1 serving a double purpose of transmission and reception into DC thereby driving a load RL.
