PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centering method and an apparatus of a rotating body for quickly and efficiently implementing a centering work, without high cost or large space, and improving the measurement accuracy for centering. SOLUTION: The centering apparatus 10 is placed and fixed with bolts so as to have the center of a rotational pedestal 12 coincide with the center of the upper face of a rotor 54 that conducts centering. A measurement arm 14 is stably held on the rotational pedestal 12 in a horizontal state, has a plumb bob suspended at its tip. and is installed rotatably at the center of the rotational pedestal 12 by a rotation means 18. Accordingly, the measurement arm 14 is rotated, until the position of the plumb bob reaches a position for measuring the rotor 54, the distance from the plumb bob 16 to the rotor 54 is measured at each measurement position, measurement values measured in measurement positions are converted, and the rotor 54 is centered.
