PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a plurality of kinds of languages by receiving a language system from the outside even in a system with restricted memory capacity. SOLUTION: This electronic equipment capable of displaying characters has a memory which stores language data of languages of N countries (N is an integer of≥1), a receiving means for receiving language data of a new language transmitted from an external transmitter, a writing means for storing the language data received by the receiving means in the memory, a display processing means for displaying characters according to the language data stored in the memory on a display means, and a selection means for optionally selecting whether or not the new language data received from the receiving means are stored in place of any language stored in the memory.
