PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable performing image composition in a plurality of arbitrary loop shapes depicted on an operation display means. SOLUTION: When a start key is depressed (S1), an original document is read and displayed on a display editor (S2). Next, waiting for designation of a composition area on an extracted image (S3), and when the area is designated, a designated shape is written on a bit map memory (S4). Subsequently, waiting for designation of the position of a background image in the composition area (S5), and when a copy start is instructed (S6), the background image is scanned with a scanner first and the scanned image is written into an RGB memory. Next, the extracted image is scanned and only the composite area is overwritten on the RGB memory by an area signal by the composition area on the bit map memory, thereby performing image composition (S7).
