PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens driving device capable of moderating an impact made when a lens support base collides with a housing, and a compact camera. SOLUTION: The lens driving device 1 is equipped with a yoke 3, a base 5 on which the yoke 3 is fixed, a magnet 13, a coil 15 and a lens support base 7 where the coil 15 is fixed, and attached inside the housing 8 so as to move the lens support base 7 in the optical axis direction of the lens by electromagnetic force generated by energizing the coil 15. The lens support base 7 is arranged so that its edge side in the optical axis direction may face to the aperture edge part 8a of the housing 8, and a flexible cushioning member 28 is provided at the edge side of the lens support base 7.
