PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external wall material having fine appearance, workability, a waterproofing function, a heat insulating function, and the like. SOLUTION: The external wall material is formed with a male-female connection structure of drop-in structure at the side edge in a width direction. A male-type connection part 12 is formed with a stepped decorative surface 6 hanging down from the tip of a decorative surface 4, an engaging groove 10 of approximately U-shape formed by an upper face 7, an innermost piece 8 and an insertion piece 9, and an insertion clearance 11 formed by the upper face 7 and the engaging groove 10. A female type connection part 21 is formed with a fixing piece 15; a first waterproof piece 13 bent upward from the lower end of the fixing piece 15; an upper face 14 projected upstream from the tip of the first waterproof piece 13; a fitting groove 16 formed by the upper face 14 and the fixing face 15 and fitted to the insertion piece 9 of approximately U-shaped cross section; a fitting piece 17 bent downstream from the tip of the upper face 14; a second waterproof piece 18 projected downstream from the tip of the fitting piece 17; a projection 19 formed at the tip of the second waterproof piece 18; and a recessed groove 20 receding in recess shape inward from the second waterproof piece 18.
