PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire guide for a wire-cutting electric discharge machine, which is free from vibration etc. of a wire even in machining of a far wider-angle taper than a conventional one, and achieves a good finished surface. SOLUTION: The wire guide 11 is formed of an upper die 13 and a lower die 21. The upper die has a through hole 14 formed therein, which has an inner peripheral surface 15 formed of a circular arc convex toward the center of the hole and having a contact section in a predetermined axial range inclusive of a minimum diameter portion 16 at which the bore assumes a minimum value. A through hole 22 formed in the lower die 21 is concentric with the through hole formed in the upper die, and consists of an upper first inner peripheral portion 24 and a lower second inner peripheral portion 25. An inner peripheral surface of the first inner peripheral portion has an arched cross section, and has a contact section 27 in a predetermined axial range inclusive of a minimum diameter portion 26. An inner peripheral surface of the second inner peripheral portion forms a circular arc having a radius of 2 mm or more, and smoothly connected to a lower edge of the contact section. Then an angle formed with a tangent at a lower edge of the second inner peripheral portion and a center line of the wire guide, is set to 45 degrees or more. Further, part of the tangent of the upper die makes contact with a virtual circular arc which is extended from the circular arc forming the second inner peripheral portion.
