PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for heating a plate for super-plastic forming, which method can improve the appearance of a product, and further can shorten the time necessary for the temperature rise in preheating the plate. SOLUTION: In the heating method, both surfaces of the plate 11 are heated before the super-plastic forming by means of a lower heater 14 and an upper heater 15 arranged on both sides of the plate 11 for the super-plastic forming. The upper heater 15 is approached to the upper surface 11b of the plate 11 so as to have some clearance. The upper surface 11b becomes the appearance surface as the outside surface of the product after the super-plastic forming.
