PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat sterilization apparatus of ballast water heating the ballast water to a given temperature using heat of high temperature compressed air produced in a turbocharger, without lowering a power output of a marine main engine. SOLUTION: The heat sterilization apparatus is constituted in such a way that first and second scavenge duct heat exchangers are arranged in this order from the upstream side of a scavenge duct of the turbocharger supplying compressed air to the marine main engine; a first ballast water circulation circuit is formed in relation to the first heat exchanger; a second ballast water circulation circuit and a scavenge duct cooling circuit are formed in relation to the second heat exchanger; the ballast water is heated in the second ballast water circulation circuit until the ballast water is heated to the given temperature and the scavenge duct is cooled by the ballast water; the ballast water is heated by the first ballast water circulation circuit when the ballast water is heated above the given temperature, and the scavenge duct is cooled by fresh sea water by the scavenge duct cooling circuit.
