PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker for uniformly cooking rice and making the top face of boiled rice flat to produce a visually delicious taste effect. SOLUTION: This rice cooker includes: a pot 2 to store a material to be cooked; a heating means 4 to heat the material to be cooked; a lid 5 of the pot 2; a pressure valve 14 to communicate between the inside of the pot and the open air or blocking between the so as to keep the inside of the pot at almost constant prescribed pressure, a pressure valve opening mechanism 18 to forcibly bring the pressure valve 14 into an opening condition, and a control means 20 to control the heating value of the heating means 4 to control the opening operation of the pressure valve 14 by a pressure valve opening mechanism 18, and a means to select a rice cooking course for clean rice/standard (ordinary) rice. The control means 20 sets the number of opening operations of the pressure valve 14 by the pressure valve opening mechanism 18 during a boiling keeping process in case of performing for the rice cooking course for clean rice/standard (ordinary) rice so as to be at a small number when the amount of rice to be cooked is large and at a large number when the amount of rice to be cooked is small.
