Vacuum cleaner (1) mouthpiece (10) has baseplate provided with a suction channel (4,5) with adjustable dimensions matchable to those of the surface to be cleaned. The mouthpiece is formed from several parts (B,18), which can be displaceably joined to each other, e.g. telescopically, extendably or rotatably. Adjustment of width can occur with the use of a piston-cylinder assembly, whereby teh required pressure differences are achieved by using the suction forces generated during vacuuming. Alternatively, the mouthpiece can be constructed from loose parts which reciprocally can be coupled and uncoupled.
