摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure synchronization in low, medium and high speed rotation regions and improve quietness and volume efficiency even in the low speed rotation region. <P>SOLUTION: A rotary valve 50 as a pulse generator to be rotated in synchronization with a crank shaft 3 is built in a surge tank 42 of an intake manifold 41. The rotary valve 50 has openings 52, 53 formed in the peripheral face for opening/closing branch pipes 43A-43D communicated with an intake port. When the rate of the single capacity of an intake passage from the downstream end of the intake port 17 to the openings 52, 53 of the rotary valve 50 to the single stroke capacity of each cylinder is defined as "intake passage/stroke capacity rate", its range is set to be 70-130%. Torque in a steady state as well as torque in a transient condition during acceleration are efficiently improved. This ensures synchronization in the low, medium and high rotation regions and improves quietness and volume efficiency even in the low speed rotation region. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p>
