PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high-speed recording by performing control to reduce as much as possible an emergency stop of feeding operation that tends to be caused by increase of recording speed when feeding a recording medium of an object to be carried. SOLUTION: Feeding of the recording medium SB by a feeding roller 2 is started before defining a recording start position PB. Thereafter, when the recording start position PB is defined within a prescribed period of time when the recording medium can be stopped at a prescribed stop position after detecting a tip end of the recording medium and before carrying the recording medium in by a carrying means, it is determined whether or not the feeding roller 2 is stopped at that time. Thus, stop determination time of the feeding roller 2 becomes later than a conventional one, and the emergency stop of the feeding operation can be reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
