PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of adverse effects on the control of an inside/outside air switching door by a change of wind volume in an air conditioner for a vehicle. SOLUTION: The air conditioner for the vehicle includes exhaust gas sensors 44a and 44b, and an electronic control device 30 for controlling the inside/outside air switching door 12 according to concentration of contaminant substances detected by the exhaust gas sensors. For example, when the sensitivity A2 of the exhaust gas sensor 44b for detecting the concentration of an oxidizing gas rises as the concentration of the oxidizing gas rises, the electronic control device 30 uses a threshold valueα2 for the concentration determination when acceleration is under a fixed level B2. On the other hand, the electronic control device 30 uses the threshold valueβ2 which is larger than the threshold valueα2, when the acceleration is the fixed level B2 or higher.
