PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical circuit of which optical axis alignment is easy, and also to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The optical circuit 10 has, in a clad layer 12 which is arranged on one surface of a glass substrate 11a, a circuit part 14 provided with an optical propagation pattern 13 with a refractive index higher than that of the clad layer 12. A metal pattern 15 is arranged on the other surface of the glass substrate 11, and the optical propagation pattern 13 of almost a similar shape as the metal pattern 15 is arranged in the clad layer 12.
