PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate ground photographing or failure of photographing due to erroneous triggering in a video camera. SOLUTION: Video data are always recorded in a recording medium in both photographing time and photographing standby time. The vacant capacity of the medium is determined, and if the vacant capacity runs out, the data of photographing standby time are sequentially determined or overwritten. When erroneous triggering is found, all the recorded data in recording standby time are protected. Alternatively, the effectiveness before and after triggering and during triggering is determined by reproduction to determine the effectiveness, and the status of erroneous triggering is determined on the basis of a result thereof and subjected to correction processing.
