PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for a semiconductor device capable of opening and closing easily of a lid by a small operating force and superior in workability. SOLUTION: The socket for the semiconductor device is provided with a socket main part, a lid which is fitted rotatably at the back of the socket main part, a latch which is fitted rotatably at the front of the socket main part and engaged with the lid when the lid is closed, and a lever member which is fitted at the front of the lid rotatably. The lever member includes a pair of levers which have a latch pushing part capable of contacting the latch and a pair of engaging parts that are engaged with the engaging parts provided at both right and left sides at the front of the socket main part, and when the lever member is rotated so as to release the engaging part of the lever of the lever member from engagement with the engaging part of the socket main part, the latch pushing part contacts the latch and the latch is released from engagement with the lid.
