PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape and a magnetic tape cartridge nearly free from off-track even in a magnetic recording system wherein a recording track width is narrow and nearly free from deterioration of an error rate due to running. SOLUTION: In the magnetic tape formed by providing at least a magnetic layer on a non-magnetic support and having≤0.05 mm displacement of a meandering part per 25 mm magnetic tape,≤0.001%/°C temperature expansion coefficient in a tape width direction and≤0.0015%/%RH humidity expansion coefficient and the magnetic tape cartridge in which a single or a plurality of reels on which the magnetic tapes are wound are rotatably housed in a cartridge case, the magnetic tape is used as a magnetic tape.
