PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curable resin composition for a liquid crystal display element which is superior in reliability, even when it is used as a sealing agent in the production of the liquid crystal display element by a dropping method, unlikely to cause contamination of a liquid crystal, and realizes the production of the liquid crystal display element of high quality images almost free of color irregularity, and to provide a sealing agent for the liquid crystal display element, comprising the curable resin composition for the liquid crystal display element, a vertically conducting material, and the liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: The curable resin composition for the liquid crystal display element contains a photothermosetting resin, a monofunctional (meth)acrylate, having a skeleton shown by Formula (1) (wherein, X expresses H or CH<SB>3</SB>) and a skeleton shown by Formula (2) (wherein Y expresses a substitution group having≤20 atoms), a thermosetting agent and/or a photoradical polymerization initiator.
