PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize miniaturization and the shortening of time required for detecting a lens position. SOLUTION: The lens position detecting device 200 is equipped with a magnet for detecting a position 202, a magnetic force detecting sensor 204 and a position information generating means 206 or the like. The magnet for detecting a position 202 is attached to the rear surface of a lens holding frame 1408. The magnetic force detecting sensor 204 generates a detection signal at a level in accordance with the strength of magnetic force radiated from the magnetic pole of the magnet for detecting a position 202, and is arranged on a line parallel with an optical axis and passing through the magnet for detecting a position 202. The magnetic force detecting sensor 204 outputs the detection signal at voltage corresponding to (in proportion to) the strength of the magnetic force.
