PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the quality of color images to be formed by preventing the misregistration of transfer positions of toner images of respective colors when the color images are formed by superposing the toner images of a plurality of colors and transferring the same. SOLUTION: In case of the occurrence of the misregistration of the transfer positions of the toner images of the respective colors formed on respective photoreceptors 7, the number of revolutions of a driving section 28 for driving the photoreceptors 7 is adjusted so as to maintain the fixed linear speeds of the photoreceptors 7 according to the amounts of the misregistration. As a result, the misregistration of the transfer positions of the toner images on the photoreceptors 7 can be eliminated and the high-quality color images obviating the misregistration of the transfer positions of the toner images on the photoreceptors 7 can be obtained.
