PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underwater decomposition type garbage disposal apparatus with simplified structure of piping or the like for spraying and diffusing decomposition liquid on the liquid surface. SOLUTION: In this underwater decomposition type garbage disposal apparatus, garbage charged into a garbage charging device 1 is crushed therein, and introduced into a decomposition tank 2, the decomposition liquid stored in the decomposition tank 2 is sprayed and circulated onto the surface W of the decomposition liquid by a circulation pump 4, and the garbage is decomposed by microorganisms of the decomposition liquid. A spray pipe 41 connected to the circulation pump 4 is disposed above the surface W of the decomposition liquid with its spraying port 41a set upward, and a diffusing part 5 diffusing the decomposition liquid sprayed upward from the spraying port 41a, is provided above the spraying port 41a.
