A transition base has a first mounting surface that faces in a first direction, has a second mounting surface that faces in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction, and has a plurality of columns that are disposed between the first and the second mounting surfaces. Each column has a column length that extends between the first and the second mounting surfaces, has a structural element, and has a damping element. Each of the structural and the damping elements extend along the column length. Further, one of the structural and the damping elements may be incorporated in or encased by the other of the damping and the structural elements. |
