PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise at the rotational driving of a deflection scanner by regulating the height of a balance weight even when the correction amount of the balance weight is large when imbalance of the deflection scanner is corrected. SOLUTION: The deflection scanner has: a rotating part composed of a rotating polygon mirror 1 with which a light beam is deflected and scanned and a rotor magnet 5 which rotates integrally with the rotating polygon mirror 1 or the like; and a motor which rotationally drives the rotating part. The dynamic balance of the rotating part is corrected by applying a balance weight on at least a face of the rotating part. The deflection scanner is characterized in that assuming the revolution of the motor is R (rpm), fitting radius of the balance weight is r (mm), and the height of the balance weight from the adhered face is h (mm), the height of the balance weight h is regulated so as to satisfy the relation ((R/60)×2×π×r)<SP>2</SP>×h<1.1×10<SP>9</SP>.
