PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed battery where a volume occupied by a battery element in a battery external case is large, and capacity density is excellent. SOLUTION: In the sealed battery of which the battery element is stored into the battery external case, an insertion opening is formed at one end for inserting a tab 5 for connecting the battery element to a battery header 6 between the upper surface of the battery element 3 and a battery header 5, and an insulating member 10 is arranged for forming a through hole through the tab while communicating with the insertion opening.
