PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color conversion apparatus and a color conversion method capable of adjusting the saturation and lightness of a desired color component without enhancing a noise component. SOLUTION: This color conversion apparatus calculates hue region data effective for the specific hue component of a color image represented by first color data. The apparatus selects data effective for color of each pixel among the hue region data on the basis of an identification code indicating information about hue, and outputs first effective hue region data. The apparatus converts the frequency characteristic of the first effective hue region data on the basis of the identification code to output second effective hue region data. The apparatus performs matrix operation using the second hue region data as an operand. Thus, the apparatus calculates a correction amount for correcting the lightness and/or saturation of the first color data independently for each of the hue components. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
