<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable apparatus allowing simple setting of a built-in timepiece. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU is provided with a built-in timepiece setting part 56 for setting the built-in timepiece 28. In the case where the built-in timepiece 28 is not set yet, the built-in timepiece setting part 56 transfers a digital camera 10 to a time setting mode, and displays a guide message urging photographing of an external timepiece to a user on LCD 26. When the external timepiece is photographed, the built-in timepiece setting part 56 analyzes timepiece image data stored in a frame memory 3, detects a time shown by the photographed external timepiece, and sets the detected time in the built-in timepiece 28.
