PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain mutual interference, and to efficiently detect metal such as lead mixed in a cullet, without increasing labors and times for maintenance, while maintaining sensitivity of a metal detection sensor at high sensitivity. SOLUTION: In this metal detector for oscillating a coil 51 for detection at a prescribed frequency to generate a magnetic field for the detection, and for detecting the metal mixed in the cullet passed through within the magnetic field for the detection, the plurality of coils 51 for the detection is arrayed along a prescribed direction, the magnetic fields for the detection of the plurality of coils 51 for the detection are made continuous along the prescribed direction, and each of the coils 51 for the detection is operated sequentially by a time division system.
