PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera with an electronic view finder which quickly displays live view without causing a time lag when a user looks into the electronic view finder and quickly turns off a back light to reduce power consumption when the user stops looking into the electronic view finder. SOLUTION: This digital camera is provided with the electronic view finder capable of displaying a live view image, a grip sensor arranged at a part for holding the camera and an eyepiece detection sensor arranged near an electronic view finder eyepiece part. The digital camera is provided with a control part for making the electronic view finder be in a display preparation state when the grip sensor is turned on and making the electronic view finder be in a display state when the eyepiece detection sensor is turned on.
